The Planay-Dessus hamlet sits at 1,600 m — just 50 m above the bottom of the ski runs. A snow path leads to the lifts, and another brings you directly back from the slopes to the chalet door.
Overview
Getting to the slopes
From Les Vernettes farm, keep the group of three chalets called La Lauzière on your left.
Walk or ski gently uphill for 300 m, skis on your feet or over your shoulder depending on how packed the path is (about 5 min). Very easy, even for beginners.
Photo taken at the spot where you put your skis on to glide down towards the chairlift.
Glide gently along the Sainte-Foy snowshoe trail. This lovely natural route takes you past the old mills and down to the Bonconseil chapel in front of the Yellowstone hotel and the lifts.
Back to the chalet
From the bottom of the Marquises chairlift, follow the signed path. 2-star level recommended, especially when the path is icy.
Follow the path as it winds for 2 km down to Chalet Les Vernettes. Children love this snowplough run along the narrow lane.
Last turn onto the doormat — without a single pole push!
Other options
Continue on the "Chapelle" run 500 m further along (just after a right-hand bend and before a left-hand bend). 2-star level recommended — you need to be comfortable snowploughing on ungroomed snow. For confident skiers, this is a very pleasant way home.
Make your own tracks through the fir trees! For powder lovers and those seeking a little extra thrill.
