In winter, snow tyres or chains are strongly recommended, even though the road to Planay-Dessus is cleared daily. The hamlet is at 1,600 m altitude!

Access is easy when the road is dry — but remember: a dry road on the way up does not guarantee a dry road on the way down!

Tip: leave one or two cars at the free car park in Sainte-Foy village (1,100 m) and only drive well-equipped vehicles on the last 6 km to Planay-Dessus (also free parking).

The main road to Sainte-Foy Chef-Lieu (900 m) is rarely snowy. In winter, snow equipment is compulsory by law. Tyre-chain fitting area in front of the Rassel carpentry workshop at 900 m altitude.

Ski out: walk or ski gently uphill (+15 m, about 8 min) then glide down along the Sainte-Foy snowshoe trail. This lovely natural route takes you past the old mills and down to the Bonconseil chapel in front of the Yellowstone hotel and the lifts.

Ski back: from the bottom of the Marquises chairlift, follow the signed path. You can ski all the way back to the chalet door without a single pole push. 2-star level recommended, especially when the path is icy.

On foot: same route along the Sainte-Foy snowshoe trail — 15 min going up, 20 min coming back (+60 m elevation).

Tip: book ski lessons in the morning so you can ski back before the lifts close.

Deposit: 25% of the total at signing. Security deposit: €500.

Tip: secure your dates quickly by email or phone, then confirm within a few days by returning the signed contract and deposit transfer.

For bookings made 6+ months in advance, two deposit transfers are possible:

• A first transfer of 10%, processed immediately
• A second transfer of 15%, processed 4 months before the start of the stay

Four weeks before your arrival, transfer the balance. We will then send you the entry code.

The price includes: water, heating, electricity, firewood and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Bed sheets and towels are available as an optional extra — please request at booking. Rate: €20 per person.

Bed configuration:

• 1 double bed 170×200 with blanket and duvet
• 1 double bed 160×200 with blanket and duvet
• 2 single beds 80×200 (can be joined into a 160×200 double) with blankets and duvets
• 3 single beds 80×200 with blankets and duvets
• 1 pull-out bed 80×200 with duvet
• 2 single beds + 2 bunk beds with duvets

There are no shops in the Planay-Dessus hamlet:

• In winter: grocery store and bakery above the ski lift ticket office at Sainte-Foy station
• Pharmacy and cash machine at the resort
• Supermarkets in Bourg-Saint-Maurice (20 km)
• Village grocery in Sainte-Foy Chef-Lieu (6 km)
• Traditional farm at Chavarnier (3 km): Tomme de Savoie, Beaufort and other local specialities

Tip: stock up at the supermarket in Bourg-Saint-Maurice before driving up.

The chalet is very family-friendly:

• The glazed mezzanine eliminates any risk of falls
• 3 height-adjustable high chairs
• Play mat

The chalet is very well equipped: 3 raclette sets, 3 fondue sets, complete kitchenware, books, bread maker, children's sledge…

Things guests often forget to bring:

• Dishwasher tablets, washing powder for the washing machine
• Flour and yeast for the bread maker
• Fire-lighters, gel alcohol for the fondue burners
• IGN map 1:25,000 no. 3532ET "Les Arcs, La Plagne, Parc National de la Vanoise"
• Earplugs or sleeping tablets for the first night at altitude
